About us

Astia

Hidden in the name Astia SA are a bouquet of mountain flowers, along with the initials of Isabelle Amschwand. The Alpine aster is a hardy perennial plant that grows on every continent except Antarctica. Both delicate and strong, its purple flower with orange pistil has long been considered enchanted and effective in fending off snakes. Now, Astia SA is committed to pushing back barriers with and for you.

Make your organisation blossom

Blooming late in the year, in September, the aster symbolises wisdom, loyalty, light and power. In China, it is synonymous with commitment. With Astia SA by your side, rest assured that you will benefit from wise, informed and completely independent advice. The expertise of the Astia SA team means we can move forward with you through any obstacles to ensure a future that flourishes for your business or organisation.

A logo full of resonance

Astia SA’s visual identity is intended to be both simple and meaningful. From the A, the first letter of the alphabet – the origin of every thing or action undertaken – drawing strength from the heart of the flower in the shape of a wheel, through to the S evoking the twists and turns of a winding path, and the T forming a straight line to symbolise direction, each letter is full of meaning. With full awareness, our team can go to the heart of your problem and bring out feasible, concrete solutions which you can rely on for the future.

OUR TEAM

To respond in the best way possible to the specific needs of the various commissions received, Isabelle and Fabian Amschwand surround themselves with a network of specialists.

Isabelle Amschwand

Partner

Like an expedition through high mountains or a trek through the wilderness, Isabelle Amschwand’s journey is atypical, fascinating and full of humanity. Born in the canton of Fribourg, Isabelle leads her life off the beaten track with passion and enthusiasm.

Law, finance, taxation and pension planning

Graduating with a degree in Law in 1990, Isabelle takes an interest in economics and taxation. She began her career at a Lausanne fiduciary before joining the tax administration in the canton of Bern. Intersecting with the business world, Isabelle would go on to specialise in accounting, auditing and taxation, developing a passion for occupational pension plans (social security).

Experience in the field

In 2005, the Federal Social Insurance Office made Isabelle deputy head of the Foundation Supervisory Authority. Two years later, the company Willis Towers Watson (listed on the Nasdaq) gave her carte blanche to open a branch in French-speaking Switzerland. From 2013 to 2019, Isabelle took the reins of Trianon SA, where she contributed to its growth and went on to lead its sale and integration into the Mobiliar Group. For nine years she chaired the FCT and FCT 1e, two large national occupational pension foundations (www.fctpension.swiss). From 2021, she has joined various boards of directors and foundations.

By your side to take things further

In 2019, Isabelle Amschwand created Astia SA to support public bodies, companies and managers in their desire for autonomy, growth and governance (namely corporate and social governance), and to represent these parties in an independent capacity in their pension fund. Isabelle acts as a seasoned professional partner, not allowing herself to be led by dogmatic ideas. She inspires confidence and believes in her intuition. Combined with her skills and experience, this intuition is a solid asset in the business world. Fluent in four languages (French, English, German and Swiss-German), at ease in public, endowed with interpersonal skills, a pragmatic sense of diplomacy and strength in decision making, Isabelle Amschwand lives for the next challenge, and looks forward to meeting yours.

Profile of the team

Fabian Amschwand

Partner

Sense of initiative. Openness to new challenges. Makes the effort. With these qualities, the same common denominator unites Isabelle and Fabian in their professional lives. A passion for the mountains is also close to the heart of Fabian Amschwand, who joins Astia SA as a partner specialising in public sector governance.

Tax law and international consulting

After graduating with a degree in law degree from the University of Bern, Fabian developed a passion for the rules of tax law. It was in the legal department of the tax administration at the canton of Bern that he began his career as a tax lawyer.

In the Bernese Oberland

As part of the same administration – and after a year in international consulting – in 1996, Fabian took over as head of the department responsible for the taxation of companies in this superb region of the Alps. A hands-on man of action, Fabian was also involved in the restructuring of the institution, with the digitisation of taxation at its core. This varied career led him to head up the regional administration of Oberland in 2002, with more than 100 employees.

Training to grow

Alongside these roles, Fabian honed his knowledge of leadership and management of public bodies at the University of Bern. In 2008, he obtained his Executive Masters in Public Administration (MPA Unibe) with distinction for the best Masters thesis.

Governance partner

With a passion for the various aspects of governance, Fabian returned to the University of Bern in 2008, where he participated in practical research projects on quality assurance and public management. Addressing the issue of basic rights in collaboration with quality assurance for Swiss universities, the excellence of the distinction he received in 2013 won the prestigious Professor Walther Hug Prize.

University of Fribourg

From 2014 to 2020, Fabian was appointed Secretary General of UniFR (Fribourg). As such, he strives to develop governance within the University while leading various restructuring and strategic development projects. An advocate for open, transparent communication, Fabian is delighted to share his knowledge, putting his many years of experience into practice to help you achieve your goals with an approach as rigorous as it is pragmatic. And all this with perfect governance.
